Together with the most generous contribution from the community of Newbury, Thatcham and West Berkshire, we also need to acknowledge the support from local businesses within the area too. A number of local businesses employ a significant number of homeless individuals and hot food is provided free of charge in the way of soup, beans on toast and an array of food kindly donated by the local Foodbank, supermarkets and cafes.
If it were not for the facilities provided by the Salvation Army, we would not be able to open our Soup Kitchen. The allow us to use their premises each and every Thursday evening. We are privileged to work in joint venture initiative with the Newbury branch.
The new Southern Co-op Group shop at 75 Brummell Road, RG14 1SG have donated £1,000.00 to us this year. We also have a collection basket in their store. You may drop any food for us there.
The West Berkshire Foodbank have been amazing support to the Soup Kitchen from conception. They supply all tinned food such as baked beans and soup. They help with tea, sugar and a supply of mug type foods for the homeless and vulnerable to take away with them. We am very grateful to all their support.
Healthwatch West Berkshire support the Soup Kitchen hugely with advice and support. They work along side us when necessary to ensure clients who are homeless get the primary healthcare they deserve if they need it.
