A Few New Faces This Evening

A busy session this evening although with less people, 38 in total. We had a few new faces and they seemed to enjoyed themselves, thanking us for the food and the lovely atmosphere. I think some of them were surprised! One person came in ravenous, so it was lovely to be able to feed her. Once she had settled, she was happier and a couple of us sat down for a chat. She relaxed and said she would come back next week.

We had again lots of food from Greggs and Pret A Manger. They are so generous every week. Our third week now receiving rolls from Eden Cafe in Newbury, thank you.

Welcome back Hannah, whom we have missed, back to us after charity work in Africa. Tom came in too who is ex police. He was impressed and inspired by our Soup kitchen. He made a point in saying how polite everyone was. He thought it was great.

A couple of people came in to see us with donations of 4 season sleeping bags, torches and desperately needed tents. All of which we gave out.

The weather is getting colder and a couple of men asked for thermal socks.

Lots of laughter and support given throughout the evening.

Hannah, one of our volunteers described the Soup kitchen as “the best thing to do on a Thursday night out in Newbury” It shows how much our volunteers have invested in the Soup kitchen.

Please help us by donating via our Wish List, as every little helps. Tents are always welcome and now the colder weather is coming, thermal underwear is most welcomed.
