Fiona - Session Volunteer

My name is Fiona and I have been living in Newbury since June and have volunteered at the Newbury Soup Kitchen since August 2018. 

Since I have begun volunteering I am gradually becoming a more established member of the Soup Kitchen family. I love meeting, chatting and befriending the people who come in and use our services on a Thursday evening, everyone of them has their own story to tell. I am still getting to know the clients and envisage that may take some time but I am beginning to remember their names at least!

I have also got involved at other times. During the summer I have had the opportunity to salvage tents left from the Reading Festival and I now go regularly to pick up food donations from Waitrose with my husband. More recently I have got involved in fundraising activities and street collections.
