Steph - Session Volunteer
At the beginning of the pandemic I was furloughed from my job and it created a huge void. Even though I wasn’t alone, and that I had the support of family and friends, I felt really isolated. It was an awful feeling and something I had never really experienced before. It made me think about how many people feel like this and what I could do in my community to help combat that, not just for myself but for others too.
I wanted to be part of a community that made a difference, that felt like a family, and that looked out for those who needed it most. The Newbury Soup Kitchen is just that, it’s a community that welcomes you with open arms, offers a friendly face and is there to lend an ear. It’s a community of people who want to give a helping hand and share that sense of belonging, and it’s a real privilege to be part of that.
The Newbury Soup Kitchen is wonderful charity that helps our most vulnerable and it’s something I am so very proud to be a part of.
