Newbury Soup Kitchen is always looking for volunteers to help at sessions and in the background with operational tasks.

We are at the Salvation Army Hall in Northcroft Lane, Thursdays between 6-7pm.  Most vacancies will revolve around our food provision food sessions which are evening opening hours, though some may extend further. We also operate a limited service at The Wharf in Newbury on Wednesdays 6pm -7pm and Saturdays between 5pm and 6pm. Below is a list of other volunteer opportunities, especially if you would like to give your time a bit more behind the scenes.

Shift/volunteer opportunities

• General Thursday session volunteer 5.30-7.30pm  (allowing for set up and clean down time)
• Saturday (Wharf) volunteering from 5pm-6pm  (please allow for set up and clear up time)
• Wednesday (Wharf) volunteering 6pm-7pm     (please allow for set up and clear up time)
• You may be required to drive our Transit VAN or larger Mercedes MWB Sprinter.
• Evening Volunteering rest of week if necessary
• Chiropody/Foot Care Tuesday afternoons 2-4pm Other suitable outreach will be considered.
• First Aid Volunteer Thursday, Wednesday, or Saturdays
• Kitchen volunteer cooks. 
• Greggs and Pret donation pick up Wednesday, Thursday and Saturdays late afternoon to take to session in Newbury centre

Thursdays 9am-5pm or mornings or afternoons. 

Tuesday and Thursdays include lifting as fresh food donations from the supermarkets 8am which require carrying up a staircase and help with sorting.

• Fundraisers to help us develop and write funding bids to trusts and foundations to help with continued strength of Newbury Soup Kitchen. Can do this from home.
