Volunteer Opportunities - Join The Team
At different times of the year and as the requirements dictate, we invite applications from the local community to help us provide help and support to the Newbury homeless via the Soup Kitchen. Based at the Salvation Army Hall in Northcroft Lane, we are open between 5.00pm to 8.30pm on a Thursday evening. Most vacancies will revolve around our Thursday evening opening hours, though some may extend further.
How To Apply
We currently require a Chairperson to lead our existing Trustees during an emerging period of growth, development and expansion. The coronavirus pandemic has truly stretched statutory resources and the Newbury Soup Kitchen has stepped up to the plate to meet demand and fill in the gaps where appropriate.
The ideal candidate would bring wider experience to the Board as well as a offering well informed views and opinions, constructively challenging and actively delivering best practice. We would expect management skills at a senior level, an understanding of the needs of homeless people in Berkshire, knowledge of strategy and great communication skills.
Whilst the candidate is not required to have any particular charitable experience per se, it would be advantageous that some form of skill-set is brought to the Board. This position is expected to be part-time and on a voluntary basis. Please Note: Trustees are required to confirm their eligibility to be a Director under UK Charity and Company law.
