Social media can be a force for good, as Newbury Soup Kitchen can tell you.
This week they received the exciting news that they had been chosen as a partner by Twitter’s @beanies_masato for the next 12 months.
What does that mean?
Leeds based fashion designer Masato Jones has always been concerned about the number of homeless and vulnerable people he meets daily. Some years ago he started a winter campaign selling Beanie hats. For each one sold, another goes to homeless outreach and hubs. In spring end of range T-shirts and sweatshirts raise funds to buy essentials for them too.
For Newbury Soup Kitchen that means winter Beanies and mittens for their clients and in the spring other essentials to help them support those who need it.
“We are delighted to be supporting Newbury Soup Kitchen” said Sue, one of the @beanies_masato volunteers. “And I know that our followers on Twitter will rally round this winter to #Buy1Give1 for their Beanie hats.”
