My name’s Andy, and I joined Newbury Soup Kitchen at Christmas 2023

Joining the team has been such an incredible and rewarding experience. Those who volunteer their time to support those who are finding life a daily challenge, often through no fault of their own, are some of the friendliest and selfless people I have ever met. 

I really look forward to our evening sessions and catching up with our clients; for many the Soup Kitchen is not just a hot meal, it’s an opportunity to feel part of something bigger. Where they are welcomed by name and with respect. The stories and backgrounds are so varied, but not one of them ever set out to be homeless, and it is scary how easily it can happen.
