Lynne - Session Volunteer

I am one of the cooks and I cook on alternate Thursdays for the sit-down session at the Church Hall.  I have been doing this for almost two years.  I had been looking for a volunteering role that would speak to me for some time after having spent much of 2021 assisting the local GP surgeries with COVID vaccinations both at Newbury racecourse and later at various of the surgeries.   I had found that experience very rewarding and was looking for a different way to give something back.  When I saw Meryl’s (our CEO and founder) post on Facebook looking for cooks I was immediately interested.  I enjoy cooking, and in particular the challenge that comes from not always knowing what there will be for me to cook with.   The Soup Kitchen team is a lovely group of people, and I feel privileged to have the opportunity to participate with the rest of the team in providing a very valuable service to our clients.
