Newbury Soup Kitchen and many other local charities and community groups attended St John’s Church Newbury Christmas Tree Festival today.
This is a special part of our calendar. Our volunteers and team come every year to decorate our designated tree. Our tree at the festival is in memory of the clients and colleagues we have had the privilege of supporting, people no longer with us but forever in our thoughts. Sadly, the names on the tree grow every year and this year we have added more.
This is a lovely place to come and reflect and a place where families can come to see and remember their loved ones too. Many of the names are from our clients who have lost their lives through the destruction of addiction experiencing homelessness and mental health challenges. This tradition gives us a moment to reflect on the year and the lives so deeply affected. It was especially meaningful to have Newbury Soup Kitchen volunteers helping to decorate the tree.
Thank you to Gary at St John the Evangelist Church, Newbury John’s Evangelist Church Newbury.
