We didn’t know how the Michaelmas Fair would impact the Soup Kitchen this evening. Our numbers were slightly down this week. However, it allowed us to spend quality time with our clients as we weren’t so busy.
A session full of laughter and friendship tonight, lots of delicious food as always and a tin of Roses provided by one of our lovely volunteers. The best news of the night was one of our regular clients advising us that they have got a job, with the hard work of Employment Plus and the continued support of the Soup Kitchen, they have been confident enough to start work in a factory. Very well done, we are all really proud of you.
We have had some amazing members of the public come to the Salvation Army Hall this evening with donations, last week we had 2 lovely visitors with sleeping bags and Pot Noodles. This week 7 wonderful people came to see us with more donations of Pot Noodles, a big catering sized coffee tin, plastic cutlery and doughnuts. Your generosity makes an immediate difference. You have filled tummies and flasks tonight and you have also shown our clients at the Kitchen, that people really care.
The Homeless are used to being invisible but seeing people come in to hall tonight and give so generously was noticed and commented on. So Thank you Zak, Claire, Crystal & Craig and the ones whose names I didn’t manage to get and to all our Amazon Angels who’s wish list parcels we have been receiving all week!
